Relativity 4 Engineers
I get a lot of notices and one that recently came my way was the announcement that the website Engineering.com has begun allowing their members to have blogs through their site. On reviewing the new blogs, I think it has a bit of work needed ... it's an "open blog community" where finding relevant information is a bit of a chore. If you have an interest in engineering, though, there are definitely people out there dispensing useful information and it's probably worth checking out.
One blogger which caught my eye was Burt Jordaan's post on The "Twin Paradox", a complex hypothetical example of Einstein's theory of relativity in action that I have not yet had a chance to cover on this site.
But it seems that Mr. Jordaan does not end there. He has an entire ebook, Relativity-4-Engineers, with a lot of great material also posted to the website. I haven't read the ebook yet myself, but, as you can probably tell, I'm fairly impressed with what I've seen so far.

I don’t know where you read that black holes can swallow whole galaxies, but that has certainly not been observed.
Black holes “swallow” material (stars, dust, gas) orbiting in their immediate vicinity. Such matter disappears from view, but the mass of the black hole grows by the same amount that it swallowed, so matter and energy is conserved.
Matter that orbits at a “safe” distance cannot really fall into the black hole, due to orbital mechanics.
