Many societies have formed for physicists, physics students, and physics teachers to gather together for learning and comraderie. Some of these physics societies require academic or professional roles, while others allow laymen to join.

The American Association of Physics Teachers promotes physics education by allowing teachers of the subject to network with each other, trade information, gain access to new teaching methods, and generally find ways to pass on knowledge of physics to the next generation.
