George E. Smith

George E. Smith is one of the team of researchers who developed charge-coupled devices (CCDs) that have brought about a revolution in digital imaging technology. He has received numerous awards for this work, including the 2009 Nobel Prize in physics.

Charles K. Kao

Charles K. Kao is a key figure in the development of fiber optic technologies, and was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics for this work.
