Raj tells Howard that he is bringing a date to his wedding. Since he has no one lined up, he decides to finally give in and asks his Indian parents to play matchmaker. Surprisingly, things seem to be going well ... until Raj learns that the woman he's dating is really homosexual. She had thought that he, too, was entering into a fake marriage to appease his parents because he was gay.
Meanwhile, Penny spends part of her recent royalty check from her commercial on a pair of mint-in-box Star Trek transporter toys from the 1970's, one each for Sheldon and Leonard. In a dream, Sheldon's vintage Spock action figure appears to him and convinces him to open the box and play with the transporter. He breaks the transporter toy almost immediately, but puts it back in the box and swaps it with Leonard's. Despite a dreamy guilt trip from his Spock action figure, Sheldon believes he has gotten away with it, but when Leonard's about to uncover the truth, he finally confesses his transgressions ... a hilarious exchange that is outlined in detail below in the notable quotes.
This Episode's Science
Quantum Physics: Sheldon at one point talks about how he loves quantum physics, because it's "like looking at the universe naked." Beyond that, there wasn't much science in this episode.
Sheldon: Fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce, but 100% of all make-your-own-sundae bars end in happiness.
Leonard: Who's there?
Sheldon: Interrupting physicist.
Leonard: Interrupting physicist--
Penny: [upon discovering that Leonard's transporter toy is broken.] I didn't break it. I guess Stuart sold it to me like this.
Sheldon: Yes. Yes, he did. That is a perfectly satisfying and plausible explanation. Let's all be mad at Stuart.
Penny: You know, I paid a lot for this. Let's take it over there and show him.
Sheldon: [Sitting at his desk, stares down his vintage Spock action figure, which in turn stares him down. Spock wins the staredown contest.] Wait! It was me. I opened your toy, [pause], discovered it was broken and didn't tell you.
Leonard: Why would you open mine?
Sheldon: I didn't. That was a lie. I opened my own toy [pause] and it was already broken, so I switched them.
Leonard: You should talk to Stuart.
Sheldon: I can't, because that was a lie. Yours was broken in an earthquake--and that's a lie.
Penny: What is the truth?
Sheldon: [Sighs and then responds rapidly.] My Mr. Spock doll came to me in a dream and forced me to open it and when the toy broke I switched it for yours. Later he encouraged me to do the right thing and I defied him. And then I was attacked by a Gorn.
Leonard: Okay. That I believe.
Sheldon: Leonard, Penny, I just, I want you both to know that I regret my actions towards the two of you. That's a lie.
