Hawking to Go Zero-G!
Tomorrow (Thursday, April 26), physicist Stephen Hawking will be taking a trip ... a trip into a zero-gravity world for 25 seconds. Space tourism company Zero Gravity Corp has offered Hawking a trip in a refitted jet that will allow him 25 seconds of free fall, in which he will effectively be experiencing microgravity. According to Hawking: Zero-gravity flight will be "bliss", as it will allow him momentary relief from the pain of his debilitating Lou Gehrig's disease.
Hawking is best known for his popular writing in physics, especially his bestseller A Brief History of Time, and also for his work with black holes and the development of the theory of Hawking radiation. As someone who has worked extensively with the warping of gravitational fields, this trip is particularly appropriate.
The flight begins at 2:30 pm Eastern Time tomorrow and CNN's Miles O'Brien will be at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, reporting live on the launch and landing of the jet.

Fantastic! As a pro-lifer in a world where euthanasia is encouraged for “less than perfect” people, I am delighted at news of his achievements, intelligence and courage. He’s in my prayers and I sincerely hope that he enjoyed the trip.
