Classroom Physics Tips

Wednesday August 23, 2006
As the back-to-school season commences, many students at all educational levels will find themselves once again approaching the task of understanding physics and other science topics. About Physics provides a number of useful tools to aid the physics student.

First, for anyone interested in studying physics I recommend our article "What Skills Do I Need to Study Physics?", which will help you get in the proper mindset for this discipline.

In our Physics Tools of the Trade section, learn about methods you can use to become more adept at tackling physics problems. In addition to useful mathematics, we also feature articles on the International System of Measurements (SI), an introduction to the scientific method, free-body diagrams, and other topics.

Our Classroom Physics area provides study tips, such as using dimensional analysis and variables to solve physical problems. Here you will also find information on college physics programs, physics books, and our growing catalogue of physics experiments.

If there's a specific concept that you want to ask questions about, but which isn't covered by the content on the site, you can either e-mail the physics guide or, even better, log onto the About Physics Forum and post your questions there. The Forums are a great place for this, because you will receive responses from a number of people. Also, if you just want to discuss physics topics, feel free to join the Forum for that, too!

In the broader scheme of things, look over the other About Education sites for further tips for going back to school, regardless of the subject area you're interested in.
