National Science Olympiad

Monday May 22, 2006
Last weekend, Indiana University hosted the 2006 National Science Olympiad, an annual event that tests applications of scientific concepts in a variety of areas (here are the 2006 events). The Olympiad takes place annually and is well worth looking into. It is sponsored by the Sallie Mae Fund, with representatives from that organization helping with the event and running a "Paying for College" workshop that is extremely useful to students, especially to the one workshop participant who won a $500 scholarship.

For educators, there are various coach clinics and even a summer institute (in Arizona, this year), which will help you learn better ways to coordinate an Olympiad team, or even provide you with ideas for topics to include in your courses.
